The salsobromoiodic and sulphurous water are the most suitable from the first years of life.
The therapies carried out with thermal waters effectively and naturally treat typical pediatric disorders such as colds, sinusitis, otitis, pharyngo-tonsillitis, bronchitis, asthma, allergies (but also skin irritations, atopic dermatitis and acne).
In addition, they help reduce acute episodes over time. Not only that: spa treatments help strengthen the entire immune system, making children stronger.
Clinical studies promoted by the Ministry of Health have also shown a reduction in their consumption of antibiotics, mucolytic drugs and the rate of hospitalization and hospitalizations.
In the spas that are structured to treat children’s pathologies, workshops and recreational activities are often organized to facilitate the stay of children.
Therapies for inflammation of the airways
Usually the thermal treatments that act on the respiratory system of the little ones use salsobromoiodic and sulphurous water. The latter, in particular, has a powerful antioxidant action and is indicated in cases of allergy because, although not acting directly on the triggering causes, it decreases inflammation and improves the trophism of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, reducing symptoms such as sneezing, nasal obstruction and watery rhinorrhea.
These waters are used through inhalations and aerosols, but also with irrigation or nasal showers, more invasive, perhaps, but not traumatic.
In spas, humage is also used, a technique that is based on the inhalation of hydrogen sulphide gas, the most important active ingredient of sulphurous water. The gas, freeing itself from the water by fall, collects in special closed rooms (humage in the environment or collective) in which it is stationed to undergo therapy.
To treat the pathologies of the child’s ear, in equipped spa facilities, the so-called politzer crenotherapy is also practiced, a treatment intended to eliminate phlegm in the ears in pediatric age.
When to go to the spa with children?
Thermal inhalation treatments can be practiced without problems from the first years of life, because their action is natural and does not interact with development.
The best times to carry out therapies are autumn, for the prevention of airway infections (rhinitis, sinusitis, otitis, pharyngotonsillitis, bronchitis) and spring for the treatment of cough or winter nasal secretions.
Obviously they must be performed in the absence of acute symptoms and only after a medical examination. Usually a course of treatment lasts about 12 days, with a day of suspension in the middle of treatment.
Inhalation spa treatments can be performed in agreement with the National Health Service: a pediatrician’s prescription is required, which must specify the disorder of the child and the indicated thermal therapy.
