Probiotics in pregnancy to protect babies from allergies

This is demonstrated by a US study published in the journal Pediatrics: further confirmation of the close connection between the intestine and the immune system.

If expectant mothers take probiotics during pregnancy, unborn babies have a lower chance of developing allergies. To say it is a study conducted by the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, USA, published by the journal Pediatrics.

The risk of allergy drops by 12 percent if mothers have taken so-called “good bacteria.” The same effect is not achieved for asthma.

According to the researchers who conducted the study, it is precisely during pregnancy that the beneficial effect of lactic acid bacteria manifests itself: it seems that the probability of developing allergies does not change if children take them.
