Pregnant holidays: why you should not give up

And the gynecologist gives you the go-ahead the holiday is all health. Common sense and small precautions are enough.

Summer is coming and you have a baby bump: is it better to stay at home? Not at all. If the gynecologist gives you the go-ahead, the holiday is all health. Common sense and small precautions are enough.

Pregnancy is not a disease. If it does not present complications, it is only a phase of the woman’s life in which some extra attention is required.

So, why deny yourself a vacation? Escaping from the daily routine by moving away from home can only be good for future mothers. And, consequently, to the unborn child.

No stress, no work (in the office, but also at home where, you know, there is always something to do) good air and movement. I challenge anyone to think it could hurt.

Choice of destination depending on the era

If you love to travel, the best time to do so is between the fifth and seventh month. Any “physiological” disorders such as nausea should be gone leaving you in perfect shape.

But even in the first trimester there are no particular problems. It is not by going on vacation that he would complain about the risk of miscarriage. If you feel like it, you can then choose your preferred destination.

Only, even if you are sporty and adventure-loving, for this year avoid stressful tours and countries where there is a high danger of infection or where vaccinations are necessary.

It is better to go to places that have a good hospital nearby, especially from the fourth month onwards. Even more so if you are at the end of your pregnancy.

Sea or mountain?

You choose, no problem. In both cases, what matters is to escape the suffocating heat of the cities, stay outdoors and enjoy what nature offers.

At the seaside, just pay more attention than usual to the sun, heat and dehydration. Remember to drink plenty of water.

Water, iodine and sun

If you follow some rules, you will return from your marine holiday with the most deflated legs, without being fattened more than you should and beautiful toned.

The presence of iodine stimulates the metabolism, helping to keep weight under control and walks in the water are a panacea for circulation, reducing swelling and edema in the legs.

Swimming is the best sport for pregnant women. In water the belly does not weigh, it moves all the muscles without fatigue more than necessary and the “massage” of the water tones.

Without exaggerating, and choosing preferably the early hours of the morning, even exposing yourself to the sun has its advantages. In addition to improving mood, it stimulates the production of vitamin D.

The important thing is to protect face and body with sunscreens that have adequate UVA and UVB filters, repeating the application several times a day and every time you bathe.

Also becausehormones change the sensitivity of the skin and make it more irritable and more prone to the formation of spots, especially in the face.

Mountain: attention to altitude

In the mountains the air is fresher, usually there is not the heat that you could find at the sea and the green of the meadows and woods generally has a relaxing and soothing power.

As a rule, however, it would be good not to exceed 1,300-1,400 meters above sea level: the higher you climb, the more the concentration of oxygen decreases, which you must also fill up for the placental system.

Walks and rest, perfect combination

Those who prefer the mountains generally love to take long walks. No contraindications: they are an excellent opportunity to oxygenate and exercise.

Just don’t get too tired. A couple of hours a day, choosing flat areas. Do not venture into steep and challenging paths. Better to walk on the meadows, at a slow pace and with a nice straight back.

In this way you avoid the danger of falling and tone the muscles of the legs, but also the abdominals and perineum, very useful in anticipation of labor and delivery.

Remember to always protect your skin with sunscreen and drink often: you will avoid annoying sunburn, irritation and, above all, dehydration.

To recover energy, then, take a few afternoon naps and long sleeps: cool nights and altitude usually help you fall asleep faster and sleep better.
