Hangover: remedies and cures for nausea after a hangover

Often the moments of celebration coincide with the consumption of alcohol in rivers (no matter if it is wine, beer or cocktails).

The translation of the word Hangover is “hangover” or in more youthful jargon “hangover”.

If you drink too much alcohol, you may wake up the next day with a general feeling of malaise and some possible symptoms including:

  • Muscle pain;
  • Perspiration;
  • Vomit;
  • Diarrhoea;
  • Loss of concentration
  • Sleep;
  • Fatigue;
  • Nausea;
  • Weakening of the immune system (which is trying to understand why we have so many discomforts).

Hangover and Nausea Cures: Natural Remedies

Ethanol is diuretic, and is one of the substances that cause nausea, fatigue and headaches due to the decrease of fluids in the brain.

The first step to erase the side effects of a hangover is actually to drink plenty of water. (This is one of the most important tips as it is crucial to rehydrate your body).

If you drink half a liter of water even before going to bed, upon waking up, the level of dehydration will be lower.

There is no real cure for Hangover, but some remedies and/or natural recipes if you have drunk too much can help alleviate the symptoms. Here are some of them:

  1. Boiled ginger, lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey (it is also used by pregnant women to combat morning sickness): to recover lucidity and well-being the drink should be drunk hot;
  2. Eat eggs as soon as you wake up: alcohol is broken down in the liver by enzymes, this causes the formation of acetaldehyde, one of the toxins that if it reaches a high concentration causes cognitive difficulties;
  3. Drink drinks to replenish mineral salts and vitamins. Tea or a pineapple-based detox water can also help;
  4. Take supplements such as succinic acid or activated charcoal: a glass of water and five capsules of charcoal helps to drain liquids limiting the unpleasant consequences of hangover;
  5. Eat fresh bread or fruit: restores blood sugar levels;
  6. Drink smoothies, fiber is also important;

As for eating, it would be more advisable to do it before, during and after drinking alcohol: drinking alcohol on an empty stomach guarantees the most terrible symptoms. The food you eat, especially if it’s protein, absorbs alcohol.

3 Things That Won’t Help You Cure the Hangover

There are remedies that are not needed or worse can worsen our being sick. Let’s see which ones:

  1. Drink coffee: caffeine helps for headaches and to recover lucidity, but can worsen stomach upset;
  2. Drinking carbonated drinks: they irritate the stomach wall;
  3. Take paracetamol: Taking alcohol and acetaminophen within walking distance of each other can increase the risk of liver damage.

Regarding the third point you should really avoid taking medicines at random, although there are drugs on the market that can relieve nausea such as those based on metoclopramide hydrochloride. Or, you can resort to the help of dietary supplements that can contribute to the normal functionality of digestive enzymes.
