Halloween tricks: are they bad for children’s skin?

Trick or treat? Now even in Italy it is a consolidated fashion. There are low-quality products in circulation. Here’s how to avoid dermatitis and allergic reactions.

Vampires, ghosts, zombies. There is something for everyone and children are waiting for nothing more than to be able to put on makeup and go door to door to scare the neighbors. And of course take some candy and some chocolates.

On the market you can find the most disparate face makeup. According to dermatologists it is always advisable to avoid low-cost ones, whose origin is generally not certified.

In the USA, where the anniversary is very popular, even the FDA, the Food and Drug Administration, has taken the field. Last month he warned about the choice of face makeup for children, as banned substances have been found in some imported products.

Which ones to choose?

According to dermatologists it would be better to choose makeup containing vegetable or food colors, therefore designed to be hypoallergenic.

Alternatively, you can focus on the products used in theater and cinema: they are designed to be used by actors, even for long periods.

In general, it is better, a few days before, to test them in small quantities on the skin, perhaps behind the baby’s ear. Just wait 10-15 minutes and see if redness or burning appears. If nothing happens, everything is ok.

It is also essential to wash the baby’s face well before going to bed, so as not to leave traces on the skin throughout the night.

Finally, the advice is not to apply them around the eyes, where the skin is more sensitive.
