Cold: prevention is served

Avoiding contagion altogether, when the virus is around, is very difficult. But much can be done to reduce the risk.

A sneeze, a runny nose, a sense of weakness… Here we go: you have most likely been affected by one of the more than 250 strains of cold viruses in the world.

Preventing contagion is absolutely difficult, but it is still possible to do something in terms of prevention and treatment. Simply by eating.

Diet and immune system

It has been shown in many studies that vitamin C improves the immune system, but it is not enough to avoid contagion.

A diet rich in fruit and especially citrus fruits, however, allows us to take the sufficient amount of vitamin C to defend ourselves from winter ailments.

If, on the other hand, you have already caught a cold, the basic advice is to eat lots of fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water: a diet rich in vegetables provides the necessary vitamins and minerals and replenishes the liquids lost due to the disease.

Drinking a nice cup of warm milk with two teaspoons of honey is not a simple remedy linked to childhood memories, but a good and healthy habit, a nutritional cocktail that protects us in the cold months.

In addition, increasing the temperature of the upper respiratory tract creates a hostile environment for the cold virus and helps defeat it.
