Heat and the end of schools: the long-awaited moment for millions of families. Because you are preparing for your holiday. Let’s see what to bring on holiday, in addition to clothes and classic books.
Ready: the holiday has already been planned for some time. Especially if you move with your children, it is better not to leave anything to chance. Including the one that will fill the suitcases, whatever our destination.
Before traveling, therefore, let’s make a local mind about what we might need, in addition to the most suitable clothes for the place where we will spend the holidays and our usual personal hygiene products.
Clothes for every need
If we travel with small children it will be natural to think about their suitcase. And if the children are older, it is always better to pay attention to what to bring.
Even if we go to the sea, but especially if the destination is the mountains, remember that the weather can change suddenly, taking us by surprise.
Some items of clothing a little heavier to cope with any changes in temperature (sweater and light windbreaker) will avoid catching cold, with all the consequences of the case.
And, especially if the coveted destination this year is a sunny beach, remember that especially the boys will be difficult to keep away from the sun.
A few light shirts with long sleeves and a pair of long trousers, also light, will protect their reddened skin from the first sun, without having to keep them sheltered.
Cap and dark glasses will complete the protection.
Sunscreen and after-sun creams
Depending on the phototype of the children it is necessary to wear suitable sunscreens: total protection, especially for the little ones, or high protection.
We remind children that, especially during the first exposures, an adequate protection factor not only avoids painful burns, but also prevents more serious consequences over time.
And if it happens to redden, a soothing after-sun should not be missing: if the sunburn is not too violent, Aloe vera-based gels are effective, able to calm any erythema.
The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of the plant relieve pain and eliminate redness, as well as shield UV rays.
Did you know that it is possible to prepare your skin for the sun, before leaving for the holidays? Here are the experts’ tips
First aid kit
Along with the medications we usually need, here’s what else should not be forgotten.
A self-respecting first aid kit must first contain: thermometer, plasters, gauze, bandages, disinfectant handkerchiefs and “strips” to suture small wounds.
If the children are small, let’s not forget antipyretic and any other emergency drugs (such as those against colic or dysentery) that will be prescribed by the pediatrician.
For everyone, in addition to antipyretic, painkillers, antinausea for travel, an insect repellent and a cream to soothe their possible stings.
If you are predisposed to allergies, antihistamines in ointment or tablets (also useful in case of sunburn) and / or cortisone.
And remedies for minor traumas
Children always on the move or teenagers (but also adults) engaged in “holiday” sports activities, practiced perhaps with little training, are easy prey to small injuries.
To counteract cramps, bruises and sprains that, although not serious, can ruin the days of leisure of children (and parents), let’s remember to bring with us a preparation that can reduce swelling and inflammation.
Such as those based on Arnica, escin and bromelain, whose joint activities induce rapid relief to the parties concerned and promote the restoration of normal conditions.
